Xbox One Elite Controller 2.0 Rumored to be in the Works
Microsoft’s Xbox One Elite controller, released in 2015, has been a huge success with Xbox One gamers. Despite it’s $150 price tag, many owners have said that it is worth the extra cash. Now, almost 3 years later, there are reports of a 2nd generation Elite controller currently being worked on by Microsoft.
Rumors of the next iteration of their Xbox One Elite Controller recently popped up on a message board on Baidu (China’s Google). According to the report, there will be some new features that come along with the new version. They include:
- A charging case
- Bluetooth for Windows 10 support
- a USB-C port
- 3-stage hair triggers locks
- Profile switch with 3 presets
- A larger analog stick well
Microsoft also has applied for a patent for a controller mechanism that will allows gamers to adjust the tension of their analog sticks. This would allows players to set up their controller to fit their personal play style. “Different users may have different preferences for the amount of tension that resists the thumbstick’s tilt”, says Microsoft.
At this point in time, these are still rumors. However, it seems likely that Microsoft would start working on an upgraded controller sooner or later. If the leak is correct, it appears that Microsoft is taking aim at the growing subset of hardcore gamers.
More expensive items like the Xbox One X and Xbox One Elite Controller may not appeal to the average gamer who aren’t worried about graphics or extra bells and whistles, but it does attract hardcore gamers who want the take their gaming experience to the next level. A new Xbox One Elite Controller will offer features that specifically appeal to those who consider themselves hardcore.
