Hanzo’s Winter Wonderland Skin Getting a Reskin
The Winter Wonderland update for Overwatch is back with a refreshed version of last year’s event. This update includes a new, winterized version of Black Forest, along with the returning, holiday-themed versions of King’s Row and Hanamura. The Mei’s Snowball Offensive Brawl also makes a comeback, and is now playable on the themed Black Forest map. Blizzard has also introduced another new brawl that the studio has compared to a boss fight. The update also brings some new skins for some of the game’s most popular characters. However, not every new skin was a winner with Overwatch fans.
Hanzo’s new look was met with some heavy criticism, and it didn’t take Blizzard long to respond. On their official social media accounts and forums, Blizzard gave fans an update on what exactly those changes would be.
Blizzard community manager Josh Engen came out and said:
“Shortly after Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland released, we saw a lot of players sharing feedback about one of our new legendary skins, Casual Hanzo. The general consensus seems to be that you love the illustration that this skin is based off of, but aren’t super happy how it was translated to the game.” The new Hanzo skin has him sporting gray hair and rocking some piercings. This new style didn’t sit well with fans and Blizzard hasalready come up with some fixes that will be rolled out in an upcoming patch.
According to Engen, they are shooting for the skin to resemble way Hanzo looked in the Reflections comic released earlier this year.
